The Holy Cross Church Binsted sits on the top of a chalk ridge looking out from its delightful setting across the county of Hampshire.
This beautiful C12th century church occupies a high position watching over its cluster of pretty village houses and farmland. Several points of interest are to be found in the church and churchyard. The grave of Field Marshal The Viscount Montgomery of Alamein can be found in the far NW corner. The headstone lies flat and is poignant in its simplicity. The view over the fields makes it a very peaceful resting place.
Less easy to find and hidden away in the choir vestry is the effigy of a Crusader knight who may have fought in the 7th Crusade under King Edward I.
