St Mary’s Church Amport is a C14th structure which once had a thatched roof
St Mary’s church Amport is cruciform in plan and traces of the old roof line which once supported a thatched roof can be seen. Inside partly hidden by the altar, can be found five black marble slabs for members of the ancient Paulet(t) family of Hampshire. Elsewhere in the church in window engravings and tablets are more references to this great family.
A great treasure of the church is the small Medieval alabaster carving of St John’s head.
